change

life, ministry

Change. I like it. At least I think I do.

I’m always amazed how much people don’t like change. And I’ve always thought it was funny because I love change.

But I’ve begun to wonder if I only like change when I’m part of initiating the change. If things are changed out of my control, am I still as eager to embrace the change?

How about you? How do you react to change? Love it? Hate it? Indifferent?

  1. interesting question to raise
i think its human nature to seek a kind of constancy which is why we’re so opposed to change especially when it happens out of our control. more recently though i feel like i have come to embrace change. it is definitely easier to embrace when under my control, but also can be good other times

  2. I’m like you….I think I like change most of the time. I don’t think I have to always initiate it in order to like it, but I think it’s lots easier for me to get excited about if I understand the reason for or the benefits of it.

As a leader in ministry, this is a good reminder that if I’m not involving lots of people in the change process, I at least need to make sure I take a little time to lay a foundation of understanding before we implement those changes…
