This week I’m missing the Exponential Conference — a large gathering of church planters. I’ve attended it several times in the past…it’s always a good conference. In a lot of ways, I wish I could be there this week.
One conference/convention I won’t miss is this summer’s North American Christian Convention. This is the annual gathering of our Christian Churches/Churches of Christ. I didn’t grow up attending the convention as many have. My wife did. And she has great memories. But over the past five years or so, I have made it a point to try to attend the convention because I think it’s important.
It’s important for me to connect with those in my ‘tribe.’
It’s important for me to realize that I am a part of something bigger than just my little world in Rochester, IL.
It’s important for me to learn from those who are doing some pretty amazing things for the kingdom.
It’s important for me to reconnect with old college classmates and ministry partners.
It’s important for me because it brings rejuvenation to my soul.
I’ve been a part of the Christian Church tribe all my life. It’s my heritage. It’s who I am. No ‘denomination’ (something we resist but we function in so many ways like) is perfect. But I do love ours. And I’m glad that the NACC exists to bring us all together.
Out of curiosity, any of my readers going to be there this year?
