Wrapped up ‘the least of these’

Last Sunday we wrapped up our message series from Matthew 25 called “The Least of These.” And to finish it up we used an amazing piece written by our good friend Stefanie Cassetto called Compassion Groove. (Stefanie & her husband, John, are both on staff at Manchester Christian Church in New Hampshire…we miss them tons!) We wove it together with the popular song, Give Me Your Eyes, by Brandon Heath. It was so much fun. I sang the song, along with our guitarist Alan, and Lynda recited the poetry…it was just one of those amazing moments. I had hoped to get it on video but that didn’t work out as we had quite a few technical difficulties during the weekend.

Thanks Stef for letting us use your creative piece. You are so gifted, and it was fun to connect God’s passion for people with this moving piece that you wrote.

My heart beats quick.
Love God.  Thump-thump.
Love people.  Thump-thump.

Here’s what happens…

Here’s what happens when you leave the kitchen for just a few moments! I mean…chairs are meant to be pulled away from the table to be used as a ladder from which you can hoist yourself up to the top of the table, right?!

They came to eat corn!

A few weeks ago, some very dear friends, Amanda and Caroline, came to visit us from Massachusetts. These two girls are very special to our family…our kids are in love with each of them. And it was so nice to have them here for a long-weekend visit. Here’s a few pics of the fun.

time with friends

I was in Louisville KY earlier this week for three days of meetings for the NACC. Meetings are meetings…but the real fun was that I got to hang out for three days with Brent Storms and Toney Salva…two great friends that I worked alongside of as we planted Harbor of Hope Christian Church together nine years ago. These two guys are amazing people…doing great things in the church planting world. I’m thankful for three days of laughter, reminiscing and great conversation…with two great friends.

Ethan’s exciting Wednesday

So Ethan…our little guy who is just so dang curious about how things work…can not get enough of opening and closing things. Well on Wednesday, as Lynda was trying to get Addison in the house as quickly as possible, Ethan managed to start closing the auto van door…and got his thumb caught in the door. It ended up causing some damage…ripping the thumbnail and cutting into the nail bed. Let’s say he wasn’t a happy camper.

So after some time trying to get it to stop bleeding, Lynda ended up deciding to take him in to the dr’s office just to check it out. They then sent them to the hospital for a plastic surgeon to take a look at it. And all the while, Ethan, with his black-and-blue swollen stub of a thumb, just wanted to play with the remote control in the er room…because after all, it is electronic…and how does that thing work anyway?

We just marvel at his pain tolerance. Cuz I think if it were me, and my thumb looked like his does, I’d be curled up in a ball in the fetal position crying out for my mom!!!

In the end, he did just fine. No surgery needed…and he doesn’t really seem to care much about it. For sure, though, he doesn’t want to keep a bandage on it…he just takes it off 2 minutes after it’s put on!
